Does this photo seem a little strange to all of you out there?

We have had a whole lot of view opened up to us. We can see past the end of Gabriola Island and at night we can see the lights of Vancouver and the airplanes stacking up and coming in for landing at Vancouver airport. The boys across the road, want to plant their Chinese rhododendrons and there was nowhere to plant, and they were cutting out the sunlight. The closer in tree had also lost branches during snow storms in the past and would cause considerable damage to the roof. The area they have gained for garden seems quite small and will really need a lot of terracing and fill to bring it around.
The tree cutting process went on for several days and the final site cleaup happened yesterday. The logs were humongous. John measured the base of one of them and it came in at 30 inches.
They were going to cut out one more tree and hoped that the neighbor would cut out one of his trees. That neighbor has been away for a month and he is going to be in for a big surprise.
We moved upstairs on the weekend. Most of the work is done. We need to face the fireplace and need accessories for the bathrooms. I am enjoying being up in the daylight.
This past couple of months have been a continual view of every different saw imaginable and the the piles of material get moved from one side of the room to the other.
John has moved down this week the the lower level, so stay tuned to the progress below. We did not get pictures of our living accommodations for the last six months, so the pictures that I will show are no indication of the conditions that we lived in.
The weather here has been glorious, sunny and dry and in the high twenties. Not much for wind, but when it comes the breeze is welcome.
That sounds quite the view! It was good before and must now be even better! We have missed your regular posts Lija and was quite disappointed when you stopped for a while. The house, area, life style all look and sound so nice and it would be great to come and visit you there one day. In some ways it sounds a little similar to her ie the climate, the flowers and gardens and how you walk to the local shops etc but not the house. Unfortunately we don't have such 'unique' houses as yours. We both think what John has done is fantastic. He is one clever guy!
